About Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA)

KLIA is Malaysia’s main international airport and one of the biggest airports in Southeast Asia. It caters to more than 60 airlines and is the world’s 23rd busiest airport in terms of passenger traffic. The airport today consists of two terminals – KLIA Terminal 1, which officially opened in 1998, and KLIA Terminal 2, which began its operations in 2014 to replace the former Low-Cost Carrier Terminal (LCCT). Amal by Malaysia Airlines operated from KLIA Terminal 1.

KLIA 1 Terminal Designed by Japanese architect Kisho Kurokawa, KLIA Terminal 1 combines modern infrastructure with tropical surroundings to represent the concept of “airport in the forest, forest in the airport”. KLIA Terminal 1 comprises of three main buildings – the Main Terminal Building, the Contact Pier and the Satellite Building – that incorporate cultural, traditional and organic design aesthetics while offering state-of-the-art airport facilities and a comprehensive list of services for passengers.

Relaxation of the requirement for face masks on all airlines operated by the Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG)

With immediate effect, except when required by destination countries, passengers on Amal, Malaysia Airlines, Firefly, and MASwings, are no longer required to wear face masks onboard, except where compulsory in destination countries.

Passenger departing to countries where face masks are still required are advised to bring their own face masks for their travel.

Travellers to Malaysia are not required to undertake pre-departure or post-arrival COVID-19 tests, regardless of their COVID-19 vaccination status. The Malaysian government does not enforce any COVID-19 quarantine directives upon entry. Upon arrival, if travellers are detected as having fever through the thermal scanner or declared feeling unwell, they will be referred to the health personnel for further check-up. Before or after arriving in Malaysia, travellers can download and activate the MySejahtera application to indicate their COVID-19 risk status for the duration of their stay. Travellers may be asked about their COVID-19 risk status in MySejahtera before entering a premise.
