Hajj al-Qiran

Step-by-Step Guide

Hajj al-Qiran combines both Umrah and Hajj at the same time. There are two ways to perform Hajj al-Qiran: 1. Niyyah to perform Hajj and Umrah simultaneously in the month of Hajj and perform all the rites of Hajj. Umrah is deemed complete upon completion of Hajj; or 2. Niyyah to perform Umrah only and before Tawaf, make Niyyah to perform Hajj and all its rites. This method may be applied, for example, in situations where a woman begins menstruating after having made the intention for Umrah. Pilgrims who perform Hajj with Niyyah for Hajj al-Qiran must give Tertib and Taqdir Damm in the form of a small sacrificial animal or 1/7th of a large animal such as a cow or a camel or, if unable to do so, the pilgrim must fast for three days while in the state of Ihram or if unable to do so, the pilgrim must give Sadaqah equivalent to ten cups of food.
